I'm running on a brand new Macbook Pro Retina 13', and I've decided to install Bootcamp in favour of buying Virtual Machine software for my Windows-related work. That said, I'm surprised at how long it takes for this thing to download a few megabytes of support data, but that's beside the point.
Aug 07, 2015 Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621. Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5640. These are the last bootcamp drivers from apple give them a go it's how I got audio in win10. Then run Windows own installer to upgrade your existing Windows 7/8.1 to Windows 10. After you finish upgrading your Boot Camp Windows partition to Windows 10. Go back and boot into Mac OS X again, and get the latest Boot Camp software. Now your Windows 10 should contain all the drivers to fully support and run smoothly on your Mac hardware.
- If I do a fresh install of mac OS High Sierra on any of them Boot Camp Assist tends to fail in some way or another. After much pain and frustration I've got my procedures and steps that I go through to get around the problem. For the Boot Camp drivers once you get your hands on them you'll want to archive them somewhere.

My question being, when Bootcamp begins the Task Status of 'Downloading Windows support software...', where does it compile the downloaded data? It's definitely not in '~/Library/Application Support' if anyone wants to know. I could've written my question instead as 'Bootcamp 6 How to Speed Up Download for Windows Support Software', but I figure it'd be easier to just find the location and hopefully find a manual download from support.apple.com for the software itself.

Boot Camp is a Mac OS X utility that lets you run Windows on your Mac without relying on virtual machines or crippled emulators. Boot Camp supports Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (with OS X 10.6 or later). Boot Camp creates a Windows partition on your hard drive, along with the Mac OS partition. This means that none of your Mac content is touched at all, and Boot Camp has no effect on the operation of Mac OS.

The process of running Boot Camp to install a Windows partition includes running a preparation utility on Mac OS (after backing everything up of course), creating the partition and installing Windows, and then selecting which OS to boot into every time the machine boots up. To select an OS during startup you simply hold down the Option key and select the startup disk you want. Boot Camp gives you full access to all the power your MacBook or iMac have to offer, including all RAM, multiple processors and cores, 3D graphics, and all the ports.
Latest Boot Camp Version
Using your powerful Mac for both Mac OS and Windows used to require virtual devices, and while VMs have some advantages (allowing you to run both operating systems at the same time), for many users just being able to boot into either is all they want. Since Boot Camp is free, easy to install and use, and is supported by Apple, this is a winner of an app.
